Big news concerning WordPress GPL and Commercial Themes

gpl_logoI was wondering how this would play out, but it looks like the obvious has been noticed: Code and design that is unique and independent of any WordPress functionality can be copyrighted, but anything that utilizes the WordPress core to function, or benefit from the core WordPress functionality, must be GPL, and therefore provided as is freely. You can charge for it, but you can’t stop anyone from distributing the same code on their own as GPL code.

Makes sense to me.

So, if you are worried about having your hard work ’stolen’, make sure to create your code as a separate entity to the WP engine or core files.

Anyone object to my interpretation?
