It’s amazing how time flies.
6 months ago I started a job at a local eCommerce software shop as a developer. My role has changed a few times, but over all I am leveraged for my years of experience, my wide range of general web-dev knowledge, especially in the realm of front-end standards practises (CSS/XHTML), and I have to say this has been the quickest, funnest 6 months ever.
I’ve learned lots while being here too. I now know php5/OOP, MVC models, large scale DB deployments, as well as a having wider exposure to MS based development systems (still blech! but not as bad as I remember). I use CodeIgniter, YUI, various SQL variants, cource control (VSS and SVN)… Great learning experience all around.
In all this time, however, my own site development has taken a back seat. I still love WordPress above all, but haven’t had the time to check out what’s up, nor get any further with my desired WP hacks and theme developments. I just read that 2.8 Beta 1 is out!!! I’m going to check it out as soon as possible, but the new feature list is blowing me away. I can’t fall behind now!
Also, good to see bbPress making forward movement. So much to check out…
I have been working on a BuddyPress / MU site for a client, that has been fun, but I’ve not had enough time with THAT either to be where it needs to be.
I’m not complaining, just yakkin!
Non-work type news, I’m now playing football on a Touch Football league! that’s been amazing! I’m sooo sore!
