EntreCard blog sharing initiative

I signed up to this new blog traffic generating initiative called EntreCard today.

It is an interesting concept; get an account, put their widget in your site somewhere, and through this other EntreCard users (and general public I guess) will see ads by OTHER EntreCard users on your site, with links to that blog and one back to EntreCard itself. Also, there’s a mechanism called ‘Drop Card’ that notifies the blogger that you just looked at their site and would like them to come see yours. Hopefully they will click on your ad, read some entries, maybe comment.

The hook here, besides publicity and traffic, is that you gain and spend e-credits. With these e-credits you can purchase ad-space on a fellow EntreCard members blog. You buy time based on 24 hour blocks, and the vlaue of said adspace is popularity based. So, the more popular (ie: the more people want to advertise their blogs in your site) the higher an adblock becomes.

I can see getting a lot traffic and perhaps even meeting new blogger acquaintances through this system. It makes me want to play and surf peoples blog, and not all are crap!
